According to data released by the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on February 19, the U.S. exported over 10.09 million tons of wood pellets in 2025, marking a more than 1% increase compared to 2024.
In December, the U.S. exported 834,615 tons of wood pellets, down from 891,093.3 tons in the previous month and 879,346 tons in December 2024.
In December, the United States exported wood pellets to approximately 18 countries. The UK was the primary destination for U.S. wood pellet exports that month, reaching 525,032.7 tons, followed by Japan (93,687 tons) and the Netherlands (79,977.9 tons).
In December, the export value of wood pellets from the United States was $164.19 million, lower than November’s $170.6 million but higher than the $162.15 million recorded in the same period last year.
In 2025, the total annual export volume of wood pellets reached 10.09 million tons, with an export value of $1.93 billion, compared to 9.96 million tons and $1.85 billion in 2024.
The UK, Japan, Denmark, the Netherlands, and the French West Indies were the primary destinations for US wood pellet exports last year.
